Swami Veda's Silence Vow Ceremonyby Michelle Kinsey10th March 2013, Shivaratri morning, Swami Veda Bharati sits in the Yagnashala for a fire ceremony to start his Five Year Vow of Silence. These are a few moments from this auspicious experience. Slideshow
Editor's Note:On 10th March 2013, the Purna-ahuti of the 3 year practice from 2010 – 2013 also took place in the yagnashala. Swami Veda Bharati’s last spoken words were “Om Sham.” (pronounced “shum”). Sham is the bija mantra of “peace. In “Vows of a Swami, Translated by Swamiji” and previously published at http://www.swamivedablog.org one reads, "...all essence of knowledge is Sham, peace." For an article on the Maha-Shivaratri events during the evening and after Swamiji’s vow of silence, please see the article “Maha-Shivaratri 2013”, also in this newsletter.
