2010 Spiritual Activism Himalayan Yoga Meditation Congress

Beginning on July 23 and running through August 8, 2010, this year’s Himalayan Tradition Yoga Congress will take place in and around Minneapolis, Minnesota (USA). Organized and sponsored by Northeast Minneapolis’ The Meditation Center, the congress will focus on the many aspect of spiritual activism, paying particular attention to environmentalism and the sacredness of the natural world.
In addition to five-day and ten-day guided silence retreats, the congress program includes a panel on "Environmentalism and the Feminine" (with Swami Nityamuktananda, Swami Jaidev, and Swami Veda); a lecture series entitled “Sustainability for a Peaceful Planet” (with Swami Nityamuktananda and Swami Veda); and the “Sacred Sounds of Kirtan” concert featuring vocalist Pooja Goswami Pavan and tabla player/composer A. Pavan.

The congress will end with a light dinner and the summer gathering of the quarterly "Peace on Earth Meditation", led by Swami Veda, who will close the evening with a recitation of the Lord’s Prayer.
