International Conference on Meditation for Pain Management

More than 100 people from around the world were welcomed to the peaceful, colorful, flower-perfumed campus of Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama, Rishikesh, for the groundbreaking Conference on Meditation for Pain Management. The beautiful setting belied the serious topic of pain and its management. Findings were presented from the most up to date advances in scientific knowledge combined with insights and wisdom of ancient traditions. The five day event, 24th – 28th February 2009, shed new light on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual nature of pain and stress.

 

 

Yoga Nidra, Methods of Conscious Sleep

Much scientific research has been done on (1) sleep and (2) yoga and related practices of relaxation and meditation methods. One of the neglected areas of research is what is known in the yoga circles as yoga-nidra, that is, yoga-sleep.

The Meditation Center (TMC) is pleased to host this year’s Congress offering all participants an opportunity to experience the "Song of Silence."

From July 17 to August 1, 2009, Swami Veda Bharati will bring his Yoga Academy to the University of St Thomas in Saint Paul, Minnesota to lead the 2009 Himalayan Yoga Tradition Congress.
