Introduction

There are two ways to enter a psycho-spiritual-cosmological mandala diagram or a sigil. One way is to start from the outside border and go towards the centre. The other is to start from the interior centre and move towards the exterior. Here we shall not elaborate on this aspect of shri-vidya (the complex science from which, among other areas of knowledge, all mandalas originate). We shall, however, start from the exterior and go towards the centre of the logo.A mandala, a sigil, or a spiritual symbol, even more than the verbal language of the realized, contains in itself invisible layers of meaning. When we can ‘see’ all the layers at once, it is a level of enlightenment. Here we express few of the levels of our logo.

Use of Yoga Nidra for Creativity and for Enhancing Intuitive Faculty

PDF Print E-mail

What is creativity? It seems an obvious question. We know what it is? Do we? The word comes from Latin “Creo” to make. Who makes? Makes from what? The answer has changed over the course of history and is different in different cultures! Peter Meusberg’s research showed 100 definitions of what creativity is.

In what we call the western influenced sphere of the globe, creativity originally was seen as “God’s Job”; he created things out of nothing. Humans were considered creative only as per Divine Inspiration (and that only as: Artists, Jesters and Sages).

Vishnu Panigrahi

PDF Print E-mail

Dear AHYMSIN Family,

This letter is to inform you with deep regret that the Acharya and senior faculty of the teacher training program of AHYMSIN, have decided that Vishnu Panigrahi

1. Does not possess sufficient adhikara to teach as a fully qualified teacher  in the name of the Himalayan Yoga Tradition, as it is transmitted through Swami Rama of the Himalayas and Swami Veda Bharati; thus, he should not be sponsored under the auspices of our affiliated centers in any country.

2. Has always been considered a student-in-training and for disciplinary reasons, we felt it necessary to make it clear that he is not a trained teacher and does not represent the Tradition.

We are two birds of different branches

PDF Print E-mail

We are two birds of different branches, but share everything we have.

She is the queen of night and I am the king of day.

We fly over and over to the unknown destinations in our kingdom.

We begin our journey together into different directions though we have the same destination.

We live here and there though we share the same hut.

It is day for her when it is night in my side though we share the same land.

She reveals the secret of love when I don’t fall in love with her and rise every moment.

My heart in winks and out winks at her will.

The mystery of my love is in her rise while I fall within me.

What is the Himalayan Tradition for Yoga Meditation?

PDF Print E-mail

The Himalayan Mountains have been the home of sages for millennia. These great sages have lived and passed on knowledge of the yogic teachings to disciples who then became masters passing on the teachings in an unbroken lineage since the Vedic period. Twelve hundred years ago Shankaracharya organized his teaching into five centers of the Himalayan Tradition. As one of those five, our tradition is the Bharati lineage.

Salutations at the lotus feet of beloved Gurudeva,

naked and unadorned, free from tainted awareness;

through His compassionate love –

taming the perverse and faithless,

guiding them to spiritual freedom through all seasons.

When Is the Full Moon?

PDF Print E-mail

The calendars differ. The western calendar used to have ten months. Then two Roman emperors thought they were stars in heaven; they added their names, Julius and Augustus Caesar, so two months were added, July and August. But the Roman (Julian) computers were not programmed properly! They forgot to re-number the months. Sept means seven but September is the ninth month! Oct means eight but October is the tenth month! Nove means nine but November is the eleventh month! Dece means ten but December is the twelfth month! Even the Gregorian calendar did not make the necessary adjustments.

Your Teacher Is Always in Your Heart

PDF Print E-mail
In May, 2009, a beautiful message to the Himalayan community was conveyed by Kai, the 6¾ year-old child of Swamiji's dear students, Jon and Veena.

After a Karate session, Veena was waiting to teach meditation to their instructor, when Kai sat down on her meditation cushion.  His hands spontaneously formed a mudra, he looked as if off into a great distance, and these words came out of his mouth:
