Future Force Yoga Youth

by Vikash Ramjanam

The Future Force Yoga Youth (FFYY) is a group existing of ‘young’ AHYMSIN initiates that support Swami Veda Bharati in his wish to have a good transition from the current AHYMSIN leadership to the future leadership in both a local and a global context. The ultimate objective of this initiative is to keep receiving the grace of, and continuing the practices of the guru into next generations.

Currently the leadership of the AHYSMIN organization is a rich and experienced pool of knowledge. Although the knowledge the AHYMSIN organization, its tradition and practices are considered to be universal and timeless, we have to be aware of the fact that people change and grow older and that is important to share the foundation of our tradition with future generations and create future leaders. This is where our group FFYY steps in.

The starting point for our group was the Yoga Youth and Children’s Retreat in Rishikesh in December 2011. The FFYY had an opportunity to meet each other again during the children’s retreat in February 2013 in Rishikesh. The FFYY group decided to build a conference around leadership, because (personal) leadership is required to get anywhere in life. And especially in the context of a spiritual organization such as AHYMSIN, it is good to have a clear view about what is considered to be personal and organizational leadership.

During the conference, which took place 20th – 25th February 2013 at Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama, many interesting and inspiring experiences were shared that shed a different light on the topic of leadership. The main reason for the difference lies in the fact that AHYMSIN is not a business organization, but a spiritual organization that is built on a family perspective instead of an individual or profit maximization perspective. We found out that the foundation for leadership lies in creating a clear vision and/or common goal and in practicing one’s sadhana. If you want to carry on the torch of leadership, you need to understand experience and become the living embodiment of the principles of the AHYMSIN family organization.

As a group, we know better understand where we came from and where we are going to. We feel that we have made a great step forward in becoming a family of spiritual brothers and sisters that will carry the torch by practicing our own sadhana, by sharing our wonderful experiences, and by setting clear goals to make the transition in the coming years smooth, without any jerks or breaks as Swamiji always wonderfully tells us.
