December AHYMSIN BoD Meeting

by Rajini Prakash

From the AHYMSIN Board of Directors (BoD)/ Executive Committee Meeting on 12th Dec 2015:

OM Tryambakam Yajamahe
Sugandhim Pushtivardhanam
Urvarukamiva Bandhanan
Mrityor Mukshiya Maamritat

Swami Ritavan Bharati chanted the Maha-Mrityunjaya Mantra invoking divine blessings at the start of the AHYMSIN Board of Directors (BoD) and Executive Committee (EC) meeting on 12th Dec 2015.

Once every quarter, members of AHYMSIN BoD and EC come together, connecting as family members do, thereby strengthening spiritual bonds across the global Sangha.

In the process, they also share, discuss and make decisions on various organizational matters. The Adhyatma Samiti, DMT Board, and the Special Executive Committee members are also invited to participate in these discussions. It is an endeavour to create the ground for people, policies and practices to be aligned with the Mission of the organization.

It was proposed and agreed that excerpts from the meeting that may be of interest to the Sangha be presented in the newsletter.

Programmes: The Oct/ Nov period saw a number of successful programmes taking place at SRSG - the Breath & Pranayama retreat, TTP and the Initiator’s meet amongst them.

Teacher Training Programme (TTP): It may be of interest to many that TTP will be offered at various centres of our global organization from 2016 onwards. The teaching faculty is also being expanded.

Sangha Gathering 2016: It is heart-warming to state that more than 100 Sangha members from various countries will be attending the Sangha Gathering in February 2016. More will be warmly welcomed. It is not too late to sign up and join the gathering to honour Swami Veda.

The eagerly awaited meditation rugs are in the process of being readied for the event. The programme is currently being finalized and should be ready shortly.

The Himalayan Yoga Publications Trust (HYPT) will release a few publications in time for the Sangha Gathering. It is now possible to buy books, DVDs and CDs through HYPT website (http://www.yogapublications.org) by making online payments that has been recently activated. Other publishing avenues such as “Kindle” are being actively researched.

Elections: Another key feature that will occur at the Sangha Gathering is elections to the AHYMSIN Executive Committee. Results will be shared with the Sangha as it was done in 2013.

Retirement: Carolyn Hume who successfully served the Mission for several years as Director of Communications has decided to retire from this role. Carolyn’s commitment and dedication to the Guru and the Sangha is greatly appreciated. Carolyn will be enormously missed. AHYMSIN family members have been identified to carry on the good work. Sangha members are invited to continue to write to: [email protected]. Emails will be read and responded to as before.

Under Discussion: A few of the organizational aspects currently under discussion are: strengthening of internet services at SRSG so that the global community is served appropriately; enhancing AHYMSIN website.

Initiator’s Group Meeting: It has been shared that the initiator’s group meeting at SRSG was an enriching one. It was pervaded by a strong feeling of support for Swami Ritavan and for practices that would help build the Sangha as a cohesive group.

Close of meeting: Shi Hong, Senior Vice-President of AHYMSIN, brought the meeting to a close by sharing that the feeling of Swami Veda’s guiding presence continues at SRSG very much through Swami Ritavan Bharati.

Shi Hong also said: ‘We look forward to a successful and fruitful Sangha Gathering in 2016. It is our responsibility to continue the Mission as handed down to us all.’

This responsibility lies with each of us as sangha members and sadhakas. Let us remind ourselves of the profound messages shared by Swami Ritavan, Ashram Pramukh and Dr. Mohan Swami, President AHYMSIN, under whose guidance and direction the Sangha will move forward as a unified unit of committed spiritual aspirants.
