    Pune Pranayama Camp

    by Dr. Shirin Venkat

    Thursday, 7th April 2016.

It was sometime mid March when dear friend and patient Reshma came to the clinic, after the check up we sat chatting about the challenges of life and it just came about that I said it would be great if she got some friends together and we could do a camp on pranayama. Knowing her to be the dynamic lady she is, we soon fixed the date and venue which was the club house of the society in which she lives. (Padma Vilas Enclave, Wanorie, Pune, India)

The morning was cool, the sun was glowing on the eastern horizon, and the mantras making obeisance to

Him arose naturally in one’s heart. ‘Om Pushnen namah” I bow to the One who nourishes.

The car sent by Reshma came on time, the distance of 12 kms was reached easily as the traffic was sparse.

Twelve ladies joined the five day camp.

All came on time and we started with 3 minute meditation and chanting of Om and the preliminary shlokas. It was a purely pranayama class which was begun with Makarasana and each and every participant was individually supervised. We ended the session each day again after a few minutes of meditation and chanting Tan me manah shiva-sankalpam astu filling our minds with auspicious thoughts.

At the end of five days, it was like parting from friends, with each of us enriched. On the first and again on the last day we spoke of our lineage and beloved Swami Rama and Swami Veda Bharati who are verily the light that dispels the darkness of ignorance.

A few photos are included and so also a few of the feedbacks received.

We are going to continue refreshers courses and another camp on Joints and Glands Exercises and later on meditation also.

We are also hoping faculty from our mother ashram Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama will find time to visit us.
The enthusiastic 12 were Reshma, Sonal, Neeta, Pinky, Christine, Shirley, Bindu, Soniya, Neha Kalpana and Carol. Cheers, ladies, we will bring in a new dimension into our lives with the teachings of our tradition.
    Jai Gurudeva!
