    North American Teachers Training Program

Himalayan Yoga Tradition – Teacher Training Program
Location: The Meditation Center – Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
    July 16 - 30, 2016

This year, the North American Teachers Training Program was hosted at The Meditation Center (TMC) in Minneapolis Minnesota, after years of conducting the annual July event at many different colleges in the Minneapolis-St Paul area. What a wonderfully supportive and warm environment the TMC provided! Many of the students commented on how much the change in venue added to the program. Beginning each day with prayers and meditation in the puja room added much depth to all of the students experience with the feeling of being in an ashram setting guided by a family of sadhakas. In addition, so many family members stepped forward to teach, organize the food, bring in the evening speakers, lead contemplative walking and much more.

We enjoyed the company of a group from Korea, Canada and many areas from the U.S. The Korean group provided a wonderful surprise of a home cooked Korean lunch along with a goodbye set of traditionally sung songs.

The TTP program this year consisted of a complete two-week Level One and Two program, a one-week each Prana Vidya I and II, with many of the local student-teachers leading the morning sessions.

As is the case in years past, an evening speakers program was put together with Charles and Carol Crenshaw (continuing the Chariot of Sadhana teachings), Pandit Tejomaya, and a wonderful evening of kirtan with the local group - “Kirtan Path”. Additionally, local speakers presented topics on food sadhana, sadhana and poetry and biofeedback.

The occurrence of Guru Purnima and Full Moon Meditation during the two week program added an element of serendipity (as this has not been the case for many years) and an added depth of experience for all of the visitors. This was followed a few days later by a yajna in TMC’s back yard with many experiencing the practice of Gayatri and yajna for the first time.

Swami Veda’s presence continues to be felt at The Meditation Center guiding the resident swamis and watching over the Teachers Training Program, providing his warming shawl of love to all.
