SUMMARY:Art of Spiritual Learning
DESCRIPTION:The path of spiritual learning is a journey from the external to the internal. From information to knowldege and from knowledge to experience leading to realization. We find in Vedanta the 3 steps of learning; Śravaṇa (listening) is the first step in the process of learning. It involves active and focused listening to the teachings of a Guru. Manana (reflection/contemplation/clearing of doubts) is the second step and involves reflecting on what has been learned and clearing any doubts that may arise. Nididhyasana (meditation on the truth/integration/experience) is the final step and involves meditating on what has been learned and integrating it into one’s life. \nIn these special online study with Rabindra Sahu\, we will learn this ancient art of spiritual learning. \nAs our Master Swami Veda Bharati would often remind us that it is not possible to put a price on the teachings received\, there is no course fee for this course. Loving donations from the heart may be offered and will support the ashram. \nTeacher: Rabindra Sahu\nBegins: 22 July 2023 (Saturday)\nThe 6 sessions will be organized over three weekends (Saturday and Sunday) at 6-7 PM IST (Indian Standard Time) from 22 July – 6 Aug\, 2023.\nKindly convert to your country’s time-zone accordingly.\nMedium: Online through Zoom\nRequest: Kindly join only if you are able to commit to all the 6 sessions\, as the topics are progressive and systematic.\nLast Date for Registration: 21 July\, 2023 (Friday)\nFor Registrations/Inquiries/Donations: ahymsin@gmail.com

SUMMARY:Mind\, Meditation\, and You
DESCRIPTION:How to Energize Your Mind to Regain Your Divine Strength\nA workshop based on the section “Strong Mind\, Weak Mind\,” from the soon-to-be-published book\, Mind: The Playground of Gods\, by Swami Veda Bharati. \nSwami Rama said\, “All of the body is in the mind but all of the mind is not in the body.” In the “modern” world we think of the mind as equivalent to the brain\, which occupies only the small space within the skull. How can it be that all of the mind is not in the body when the brain is entirely in the body? What was that Swami thinking? The answer is that\, according to yoga philosophy\, the mind is a subtle energy field\, whereas the body is gross. The mind field is subtler than prana\, subtler than the body\, subtler than your clothes\, but is still considered to be material and this mind energy field is greater than the body. In other words\, the body lives within the subtler mind field. \nIn this series of Zoom sessions\, we will study this knowledge through the lens of Swami Veda’s writings and lectures. There will be talks by the leader\, readings from Swami Veda’s upcoming book\, introspection\, group discussions\, and group practice. This will be an opportunity to get a better understanding of the mind and a chance to strengthen your mind. \nKindly Contact ahymsin@ahymsin.org for registration and more information. \nDonations are welcome. \nThe event dates are 29 July\, 5 August and 13 August 2023. \n\n\n\nAbout the Workshop Leader\n \nRandall Krause is a Senior Teacher and Mentor in the Himalayan Yoga Meditation Tradition. \nHe has been an initiate for more than 30 years and spent much time learning closely from Swami Veda Bharati.

SUMMARY:Contemplations on Hastamalaka Stotram
DESCRIPTION:When Sri Adi Sankaracharya enquires from a boy: ‘Who are you\, my child?’ The response of the boy came to be revered as ‘Hastamalaka-stotram’. Composed by Hastāmalaka Acharya\, a disciple of Adi Sankaracharya\, the Hastāmalaka Stotraṁ is a short Vedāntic text of twelve verses that succinctly reveal the Knowledge of the Self. The greatness of this composition can be gauged by the fact that Sri Adi Sankaracharya himself wrote a commentary on it. It is extraordinary that the master of masters would compose commentary upon the work of his young student. This indicates\, not only the greatness of Hastamalaka’s verses\, but also the magnanimity of the Guru\, Adi Sankaracharya. \nSince\, to this young boy the knowledge of Atma-vidya was as clear as ‘a gooseberry’ (amalaka) kept on one’s palm (hasta)\, Acharya Sankara named him ‘Hastamalaka’\, and he became famous as one of the four renowned disciples of the Acharya. Hastamalaka Stotram is a contemplative text\, born of direct experience and is therefore profound in content and is truly a text for deep reflection and meditation. \nIn these special online study with Rabindra Sahu\, we will contemplate upon this beautiful and rich text of Vedanta\, and try to learn ways of applying this knowledge in our daily life. \nAs our Master Swami Veda Bharati would often remind us that it is not possible to put a price on the teachings received\, there is no course fee for this course. Loving donations from the heart may be offered and will support the ashram during the pandemic. \nTeacher: Rabindra Sahu\nBegins: 6 May 2023 (Saturday)\nThe 8 sessions will be organized over four weekends (Saturday and Sunday) at 6-7 PM IST (Indian Standard Time) from 6 – 28 May\, 2023.\nKindly convert to your country’s time-zone accordingly.\nMedium: Online through Zoom\nRequest: Kindly join only if you are able to commit to all the 8 sessions\, as the topics are progressive and systematic.\nLast Date for Registration: 5 May\, 2023 (Friday)\nFor Registrations/Inquiries/Donations: ahymsin@gmail.com

SUMMARY:Yoga is Samatvam: Bhagavad-gita
2.48 \nPerform actions dwelling in yoga\, abandoning attachment\, O Conquerer of Wealth\, being alike to success and failure. Equanimity is called yoga. – Bhagavad-gita Ch. 2\, v. 48. \n \nThe Bhagavad-gita propounds sadhakas to perform their daily actions in a manner that does not create any conflicts or suffering for themselves or for others around them. When faced with objects of opposite natures—pain and pleasure\, sorrow and joy\, one may learn to observe the fleeting nature of the world and maintain the awareness of one’s own essential nature. \nSwami Rama in his commentary\, the Perennial Psychology of the Bhagavad Gita\, has explained Samatvam as “the sense of equanimity. It is the characteristic of a yogi who is ever established in knowledge. Such a yogi sees no difference between gold and dirt\, heat and cold\, pain and pleasure\, and so on.” \nIn this contemplative study with Rabindra Sahu\, we would try to learn and apply the principles of this samatvam in our daily life. \nAs our Master Swami Veda Bharati would often remind us that it is not possible to put a price on the teachings received\, there is no course fee for this course. Loving donations from the heart may be offered and will support the ashram during the pandemic. \nTeacher: Rabindra Sahu\nBegins: 7 Jan 2023 (Saturday)\nThe six sessions will be organized over three weekends (Saturday and Sunday) at 6-7 PM IST (Indian Standard Time) from 7 – 22 Jan\, 2023.\nKindly convert to your country’s time-zone accordingly.\nMedium: Online through Zoom\nRequest: Kindly join only if you are able to commit to all the 6 sessions\, as the topics are progressive and systematic.\nLast Date for Registration: 6 Jan\, 2023 (Friday)\nFor Registrations/Inquiries/Donations: ahymsin@gmail.com \nRecommended Readings:\n1. SUMMARY:Zoom Workshop on "The Dhammapada"
DESCRIPTION:The Dhammapada: Timeless Teachings of The Buddha\nthat Every Himalayan Yoga Student Should Know\nThe Dhammapada is a collection of gemlike sayings or aphorisms taught by The Buddha. These teachings are rich with wisdom and are not exclusive to Buddhism. Many of the same teachings were taught over the years by Swami Veda Bharati. By reading and contemplating these teachings\, we learn about our own Tradition. \nAlthough it may not be widely known\, Buddha’s teachings are considered one of the sources of the stream of light known as the Himalayan Tradition. \nThis workshop will be an introduction to the Dhammapada. Rather than purely a lecture\, the workshop will be interactive and include opportunities for introspection\, discussion\, and practice. \nIf there is sufficient interest after this first session\, we may turn this workshop into a series of workshops so we can go through all of the teachings\, one by one. \n\nAbout the workshop leader:\nRandall Krause (Mokshadeva) is a Senior Teacher and Mentor in the Himalayan Yoga Meditation Tradition. He spent years learning closely from Swami Veda Bharati\, and time personally attending to Swamiji in India and elsewhere. He has taught the Himalayan Tradition in the USA\, Europe\, India (at Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama)\, and in Thailand and Taiwan. \nRandall is a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider and so attendees may count the time spent at this workshop toward their Yoga Alliance continuing yoga education requirements. \nIn addition to his yoga teaching\, Randall has practiced law and mediation\, and served as a Personal Coach. Randall has a B.A. in Psychology\, a professional law degree (JD)\, a M.A. in Interdisciplinary Consciousness Studies\, and a Certificate in Yoga Philosophy. In addition\, recently he received certification as a Sage-ing Leader—to help seniors develop and live their Inner Sage rather than simply age-ing. \n\nDonation: Loving donations towards the session are most welcome and would go a long way in supporting the Ashram in its continued teachings. \nDates: The session will be organized on 7 August 2022 at 6:30-8:00 IST (Indian Standard Time). Kindly convert to your country’s time-zone accordingly. \nMedium: Online through Zoom \nLanguage: English \nLast Date for Registration: 6 August\, 2022 (Saturday) \nFor Registrations/Enquiries/Donations: Kindly contact us at ahymsin@ahymsin.org

SUMMARY:Zoom Workshop on "Lessons I Received from Swami Veda Bharati"
DESCRIPTION:Swami Veda Bharati was a consummate teacher\, well known for his brilliant writings\, lectures\, and recordings. But\, because Swami Veda lived his teachings\, many of his most important lessons were received by being in his presence. \nRandall Krause (Mokshadeva) was fortunate to spend significant time in Swami Veda’s presence over three decades\, both as a student and as an intermittent personal assistant. \nIn this workshop\, through talk and through recounting stories of experiences he had with Swami Veda\, Randall will pass on some key teachings. This will be an interactive workshop\, not just a talk. The participants will have opportunities to introspect\, dialogue\, and develop their understanding of the lessons being imparted. \nIf there is sufficient interest after this first session\, we may turn this workshop into a series of workshops so we can go through all of the teachings\, one by one. \nAbout the Workshop Leader:\n \nRandall Krause (Mokshadeva) is a Senior Teacher and Mentor in the Himalayan Yoga Meditation Tradition.
