SUMMARY:Breath & Pranayama Retreat
DESCRIPTION:“One who has mastered the breath has discovered Superconsciousness.” — Swami Veda Bharati \nWithin the teachings of the Himalayan Tradition of Yoga Meditation\, the practice of breath and pranayama exercises is one of the most important preparations for experiencing the depths of the practice of meditation. \nSwamiji writes\, “Often we see a rush to learn advanced pranayamas. This is being done without training the breath\, without making it slow\, subtle\, deep. In our tradition there are multiple paths and exercises for achieving the full benefits from subtleties of breath.” \nIn the Himalayan Tradition\, preliminary to the practice of pranayama\, an emphasis is placed on correct posture to enable correct diaphragmatic breathing and the subtle elements of breath awareness as taught by the Himalayan sages. Mastery of these serves as a foundation for more advanced pranayamas\, which flow as a continuum into the practices of sense withdrawal\, concentration and meditation. \nThis special retreat is a unique opportunity to learn the subtleties of breath practices. We will practice pranayamas thrice daily. The programme is open for both complete beginners and practitioners. There will be daily instructional sessions and theory/philosophy sessions about breath and pranayamas. Of greatest importance in the programme is the emphasis on guided personal practice. \n\nRecommended Readings:\n\nScience of Breath by Swami Rama\, Dr. Rudolph Ballentine\, and Dr. Alan Hymes.\nA Practical Guide to Holistic Health by Swami Rama\n Meditation and Its Practice by Swami Rama\nPath of Fire and Light (Vol. 2) by Swami Rama\nYogic Practices of the Himalayan Tradition as taught by H.H. SUMMARY:Silence Retreat in Italy
DESCRIPTION:Peace\, the Fruit of Silence\nNovember 26th – 29th 2026\nwith the teachers of the Himalayan Yoga Institute of Florence\, Oasi Divin Maestro\, Camaldoli\, Italy. \n \nThe healing power of Silence\, in action\, word and thought\, gives us a deeper understanding of ourselves. Diving into Silence leads us to witness\, with deeper awareness\, the nature of our mind\, allowing it to calm down and to turn inward. The practices of hatha yoga\, pranayama\, relaxation\, meditation\, contemplative walking will help us to dive deeper towards the centre of silence\, immersed in the beauty of Camaldoli’s forest. \n“However\, it is not Silence if you are silent because you happen to be alone!\nSilence is silence when you have the intention\, make the sankalpa\, to keep a spiritual silence and then your mind is filled with spiritual contemplation and mantra\, whether sitting\, eating\, bathing\, lying down or running.” \n– Swami Veda Bharati \nFor more information: segreteria@himalayanyogainstitute.it

SUMMARY:Biofeedback\, Tai Chi\, and Qigong Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Tai Chi and Qigong (Nikki):\nTwo practice sessions and two lectures each day\, one focusing on tai chi and the other qigong\, \nTai Chi: Our focus will be on practicing simple routines and movement drills that build body and mind awareness and help cultivate health and longevity in a way very complimentary to our regular Himalayan style practices\, These practices will be taught at a level accessible to beginners but also offering more depth appropriate for experienced practitioners. At the end of the retreat each person will have a suite of movement practices and a mini Wudang Mountain Tai Chi form that they can use as they see fit\, integrated into their daily life\, or simply as an experience to help build insight into the practices they already have. \nQigong: The qigong that we will practice is a deeply healing and energetically balancing style of qigong that has its origins in the Shaolin temples and Daoist masters of the mountains of Central China. At the end of the retreat each participant will have a number of valuable tools to add to their toolbox for managing stress\, building energetic resilience\, and cultivating a healthier\, more balanced\, body\, mind\, and spirit. \nBiofeedback (Daniel):\nA few talks will be offered to explain the concepts of biofeedback. The focus would be on individual\, one on one\, private sessions with Daniel for all the participants. \nBiofeedback is well-recognised as a powerful\, non-invasive\, and relatively simple way to measure subtle changes in the emotional and physiological state in order to increase self awareness and support the process of leaning self-regulation. Daniel will be using state of the art research/clinical grade biofeedback equipment (and training techniques) to measure HRV (Heart Rate Variability) to determine RFB (Resonant Frequency Breathing)\, the ideal breathing rate that will most quickly balance the autonomic nervous system. A typical session will use a heart rate sensor and a respiration belt. Participants will be guided through a series of Yoga and Meditation breathing exercises in order to determine the optimal RFB for that individual. Time permitting\, other biofeedback modalities may be measured\, such as muscle tension\, skin temperature\, or skin conductance.

SUMMARY:Renunciation: The Universal Belonging
DESCRIPTION:Swami Ritavan Bharati invites all sincere seekers to join this special program on the most auspicious occasion of the Maha-Shivaratri. In 2027\, Maha-Shiavratri will be on 6 March 2027. \nHe has said\, \n‘Let your Maha-Shivaratri pilgrimage to Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama draw you to receive the Guru’s Embrace of Love that enwraps all spiritual seekers of Light. Plan to participate in the Shivaratri week-long activities that invites a deeper awareness and offers an opportunity for inner transformation when internal havan burns the dross of samskaras\, and external havan with japa creates a transformative experience. \nMay these themes of fearlessness\, non-attachment\, and renunciation resonate with that innermost desireless state of equanimity and joy. \nA renunciate breathes the life-breath of all; nurturing while being attached to none; gives support and encouragement to all without needing emotional support; free from fears and jealousy\, loving all\, excluding none\, with “abhayam” for there is no “other” to fear. \nLet your heart remain open to receiving this calling of Lord Shiva\, the Universal Renunciate.’ \n

SUMMARY:Guru – Disciple Relationship
DESCRIPTION:In Honor of our beloved Swami Veda Bharati ji’s Mahasamadhi\n\nॐ गुरुर्ब्रह्मा गुरुर्विष्णुर्गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरः।\nगुरुः साक्षात्परं ब्रह्म तस्मै श्रीगुरवे नमः।। \nOm gurur brahmā gurur viṣṇur gurur devo maheśvaraḥ\,\nguruḥ sākṣāt paraṁ brahma tasmai śrī-gurave namaḥ. \nOm. To that beautiful and benevolent Guru who is Brahmā\, the Creator\, Viṣṇu\, the Maintainer\, and Śiva\, the Great Lord through whom all things return to their origin. To that Guru who is the direct experience of Brahman\, salutations. \nOn the most special occasion of our beloved founder Mahamandaleshwar Shri Swami Veda Bharati ji’s 11th Mahasamadhi Anniversary (14th July)\, let us come together to pay homage to the Guru Lineage on this special day and to recommit ourselves to the living current of the Guru–Disciple relationship. On the most auspicious day of 14 July 2026\, we will also hold a shraddhanjali and a bhandara in His loving remembrance. \nJoin us for this satsanga with Rabindra Sahu\, as we come together to delve deep into the meaning and significance of the Guru Prayer and the sacred relationship between a Guru and a disciple. \nIn our tradition\, the Mahasamadhi is the Guru’s final blessing—the moment of conscious departure\, when the physical form is shed and the master becomes a pure\, limitless stream of consciousness. From that stream\, the disciple may drink forever. \n“What is a Guru? A magnet. What is a disciple? A few needles.” — Swami Veda Bharati \nOn this sacred occasion of Swamiji’s Mahasamadhi\, let us come as needles to the magnet—not to grasp something new\, but to remember what has never been lost. \n\nRecommended Readings:\n\nBook – Guru Disciple Relationship Vol 1 by Swami Veda Bharati\nBook – Guru Disciple Relationship Vol 2 by Swami Veda Bharati\n\n\nRead More Information:\n\nAbout visiting the ashram – Accommodation\nAbout our other short-term upcoming events – Events\nAbout our ongoing short-term Ashram Immersion Program\nAbout how you may contribute towards the ashram – Donate
