SUMMARY:Himalayan Yoga Tradition – Teacher Training Program Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Our Himalayan Yoga Tradition – Teacher Training Program (HYT-TTP) offers an integrated program of self-transformation leading to self-realization in the authentic tradition of Swami Rama of the Himalayas. HYT-TTP\, as its parent organization\, AHYMSIN\, is dedicated to making available the teachings of Swami Rama. \nOur program is a systematic\, sadhana-based program. “Sadhana” is a Sanskrit word which means undertaking a practice so as to cultivate and refine one’s character. The main goal of our program is to deepen the students’ sadhana so that they can transmit authentic yoga teachings to others\, not only from a storehouse of academic knowledge\, but also from a depth of personal experience. \nOur comprehensive curriculum offered through home study\, mentoring\, and ashram retreats presents all aspects of yoga and meditation in a spiritually inspiring context. The student’s progression through the home study is managed interactively and facilitated by an active discussion board\, each student being followed and supported by a mentor who is well versed in the tradition. \nThe HYT-TTP consists of 3 levels. Each level requires at least one year of study and practice. The student will progress through three study levels becoming gradually more aware of the subtle layers of personality. Swami Rama defined this growth process as the attainment of some degree of disentanglement from attachments\, allowing one to see that which s/he was previously “blind to”: \n\nLevel One – Awareness: exploration and self-acceptance\nLevel Two – Control: mindfulness and regulation of emotions\nLevel Three – Synthesis: harmonious whole personality\n\nFor more details\, kindly visit – www.HimalayanYogaTradition.com \n\nRead More Information:\n\nAbout visiting the ashram – Accommodation\nAbout our other short-term upcoming events – Events\nAbout our ongoing short-term Ashram Immersion Program\nAbout how you may contribute towards the ashram – Donate

SUMMARY:Meditation and its Practice Retreat
DESCRIPTION:This six-day programme is as much appropriate for beginners as for more advanced seekers treading the path of spirituality. The foundation stones of meditation will be approached in a scientific and systematic manner. Preparations and progressions of meditation practice will be shared step by step. This course will give you the tools to establish and pursue a regular personal meditation practice. \nDuring the retreat\, we will also explore how to prepare the body\, breath\, and mind for meditation. These essential steps will help participants create the right inner environment for deeper practice and lasting transformation. \nSet near the serene banks of the Ganga\, Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama Ashram offers the perfect environment to deepen your practice and reconnect with the true essence of yoga meditation. Whether you are beginning your journey or seeking to refine your practice\, this retreat will provide inspiration and guidance. \nIn his book Meditation and Its Practice\, Swami Rama of the Himalayas wrote: \n“For thousands of years\, the science of meditation has been studied and practiced by aspirants who sought to make their lives more serene\, creative and fulfilling. Meditation will give you the capacity to improve your health\, your relationships and the skilfulness with which you perform your activities. This is because meditation can do something no other technique can accomplish – it introduces you to yourself on all levels and finally leads you to the center of consciousness within\, the higher self\, which is called Atman.” \n\nRecommended Readings:\n\nMeditation and Its Practice by Swami Rama\n“Beginning Meditation” in Night Birds by Swami Veda Bharati\nMeditation: Art and Science by Swami Veda Bharati\nAudio with book: Learn to Meditate (plus relaxation exercises) by Swami Veda Bharati.\nVideo: Treading the Path of Superconscious Meditation by Swami Rama\nThe Royal Path by Swami Rama\nHolistic Living Manual by Swami Rama\nConscious Living by Swami Rama\n\n\nRead More Information:\n\nAbout visiting the ashram – Accommodation\nAbout our other short-term upcoming events – Events\nAbout our ongoing short-term Ashram Immersion Program\nAbout how you may contribute towards the ashram – Donate

SUMMARY:Mauni Amavasya Silence Retreats
DESCRIPTION:Mauni Amavasya (Silence Day) is an annual observance. The observation of Silence Day is a practice that Swami Veda Bharati invited us to practice. \nIn 2027\, Mauni Amavasya is 6 February. \nThere will be 7-day\, 10-day\, 14-day and 21-day silence retreats at Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama\, Rishikesh\, India from 24 January – 13 February 2027. Swami Ritavan Bharati and Adhikari Bhoi will be available to guide the silence participants. \n \nSwami Veda has said\, “…there is also an annual silence day in the traditions of India. It is called Mauni Amavasya. Mauni means ‘of or for silence’\, and amavasya means ‘no-moon day.’ \nIt occurs on the no-moon day of the Maagha month in the Hindu calendar when sun and moon are both supposed to enter the sign of Capricorn (makara rashi). \nIt is held in the tradition as the day when Manu\, the Archetypal Man first appeared on earth; he wedded Shata-roopa (She of a Hundred Beautiful Forms) and generated humankind.” \nAll silence retreats in the Himalayan Tradition are always guided and each participant is interviewed by a silence guide before the retreat may begin. Participants may be guided to follow silence practice for a duration that is most suited for them. Only those seekers who have received mantra initiation within the Himalayan Tradition will be encouraged to follow the entire 21-day silence retreat. \nEveryone is given a silence schedule to follow for the duration of the retreat. These schedules may vary among participants\, depending upon the prerequisites or health issues or other individual factors. You will also be given some articles and handouts to read. \nEveryone’s silence schedule will include the ashram morning and evening meditations\, morning joints and glands class and an afternoon relaxation practice session.  Schedules will also include breathing practices\, contemplative walking and japa. \nArrival and Departure Plans\nYou are strongly advised to arrive on campus two days before your retreat begins in order to rest\, get settled\, take care of any pending business\, get needed supplies etc. This is important. Only with rested body and a relaxed mind will you be able to enter a silent state of mind from the first day. \nYou should also plan to have at least one full day at the ashram at the end of your retreat before you leave or travel anywhere.  This is to allow time for making a gentle transition from silence to everyday life. \nAt the end of your retreat you will have an opportunity to debrief with your silence guide.  The silence guide will also advise you about ways to maintain some silence in everyday life. \n\nRecommended Readings:\n\nBook – Silence Vol 1 by Swami Veda Bharati\nBook – Silence Vol 2 by Swami Veda Bharati\n\n\nRead More Information:\n\nAbout visiting the ashram – Accommodation\nAbout our other short-term upcoming events – Events\nAbout our ongoing short-term Ashram Immersion Program\nAbout how you may contribute towards the ashram – Donate

SUMMARY:Biofeedback\, Tai Chi\, and Qigong Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Tai Chi and Qigong (Nikki):\nTwo practice sessions and two lectures each day\, one focusing on tai chi and the other qigong\, \nTai Chi: Our focus will be on practicing simple routines and movement drills that build body and mind awareness and help cultivate health and longevity in a way very complimentary to our regular Himalayan style practices\, These practices will be taught at a level accessible to beginners but also offering more depth appropriate for experienced practitioners. At the end of the retreat each person will have a suite of movement practices and a mini Wudang Mountain Tai Chi form that they can use as they see fit\, integrated into their daily life\, or simply as an experience to help build insight into the practices they already have. \nQigong: The qigong that we will practice is a deeply healing and energetically balancing style of qigong that has its origins in the Shaolin temples and Daoist masters of the mountains of Central China. At the end of the retreat each participant will have a number of valuable tools to add to their toolbox for managing stress\, building energetic resilience\, and cultivating a healthier\, more balanced\, body\, mind\, and spirit. \nThe tai chi and qigong sessions will have accompanying note pages that we will prepare for the participants reference. They can be made available in digital or print format. By providing general reference notes\, the participants can more fully engage in practice without being distracted by note taking. \nGeneral note: The tai chi and qigong sessions will be very fluid and the content may change slightly depending on the mood and general feeling during each practice session. \nBiofeedback (Daniel):\nA few talks will be offered to explain the concepts of biofeedback. The focus would be on individual\, one on one\, private sessions with Daniel for all the participants. \nBiofeedback is well-recognised as a powerful\, non-invasive\, and relatively simple way to measure subtle changes in the emotional and physiological state in order to increase self awareness and support the process of leaning self-regulation. Daniel will be using state of the art research/clinical grade biofeedback equipment (and training techniques) to measure HRV (Heart Rate Variability) to determine RFB (Resonant Frequency Breathing)\, the ideal breathing rate that will most quickly balance the autonomic nervous system. A typical session will use a heart rate sensor and a respiration belt. Participants will be guided through a series of Yoga and Meditation breathing exercises in order to determine the optimal RFB for that individual. Time permitting\, other biofeedback modalities may be measured\, such as muscle tension\, skin temperature\, or skin conductance.

SUMMARY:Renunciation: The Universal Belonging
DESCRIPTION:Swami Ritavan Bharati invites all sincere seekers to join this special program on the most auspicious occasion of the Maha-Shivaratri. In 2027\, Maha-Shiavratri will be on 6 March 2027. \nHe has said\, \n‘Let your Maha-Shivaratri pilgrimage to Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama draw you to receive the Guru’s Embrace of Love that enwraps all spiritual seekers of Light. Plan to participate in the Shivaratri week-long activities that invites a deeper awareness and offers an opportunity for inner transformation when internal havan burns the dross of samskaras\, and external havan with japa creates a transformative experience. \nMay these themes of fearlessness\, non-attachment\, and renunciation resonate with that innermost desireless state of equanimity and joy. \nA renunciate breathes the life-breath of all; nurturing while being attached to none; gives support and encouragement to all without needing emotional support; free from fears and jealousy\, loving all\, excluding none\, with “abhayam” for there is no “other” to fear. \nLet your heart remain open to receiving this calling of Lord Shiva\, the Universal Renunciate.’ \n

SUMMARY:A New Chapter in the Himalayan Yoga Tradition - Teacher Training Program (HYT-TTP)
DESCRIPTION:In 2025\, we celebrated two sacred events with our global family—the birth centenary of Gurudeva Swami Rama and the 10th Mahasamadhi of our beloved Swami Veda Bharati. These sacred occasions brought forward a new wave within our global sangha as we came together in gratitude towards the loving guidance and teachings of the Tradition that continues to flow and guide us each day. \nDuring this same period\, Swami Ritavan Bharati\, AHYMSIN’s Spiritual Guide and Ashram Pramukha\, shared his vision for the next chapter of the Himalayan Yoga Tradition – Teacher Training Program (HYT-TTP). Swami Ritavan shared that it was Swami Veda’s wish to offer this program from Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama Ashram in Rishikesh—the global headquarters of AHYMSIN and the spiritual home of the global sangha. \nFor several decades\, the HYT-TTP has served sincere aspirants worldwide in discovering the authentic teachings of yoga meditation\, and in experiencing the subtler teachings in their personal lives. Over the years\, the program has trained and helped transform hundreds of teachers across the world to first deepen their own practice and then to share the wisdom of the Himalayan Tradition with their students. \nIn Swami Veda’s own words: \n“This program has been designed to pass on the essential principles and practices of the Tradition\, which fosters personal development on all levels. For the aspiring as well as the experienced teacher\, the program presents all aspects of yoga/meditation in a spiritually inspiring context… \nOur practical\, experiential approach to teacher training encourages students to incorporate these skills into their daily lives.” \nA Renewed Approach to Teacher Training\nAnnouncing this renewal\, Swami Ritavan Bharati shared: \n“The teaching as taught by Gurudeva Swami Rama and Swami Veda has been carrying on for 55 years. We are starting another era of the teacher training program here at our ashram. It will be a month-long intensive residency that will be full days of all aspects of training yoga teachers. Not so much for the purpose that they will do research\, not for the purpose that they will go out and teach the philosophy\, but that they will practice\, and they will teach from their experience of practicing.” \nThe renewed program is dedicated to making the teachings of Gurudev Swami Rama available to a new generation of sincere aspirants. It carries forward the essence of what Swami Veda offered us as the foundation of a teacher in the Himalayan Yoga Tradition: self-transformation through personal practice and teaching through one’s own experience. \nThe program offers an integrated approach to learning\, practice\, reflection\, and self-study\, allowing participants to experience the teachings not merely as knowledge\, but as a way of life. \nKey Highlights of the Renewed Teacher Training Program\n1. An Integrated Program in Self-Transformation \nThe renewed program is offered in a hybrid format\, combining an immersive period of 4-week in-person learning with continued personal practice\, self-study\, and online guidance for 20 weeks. \n4-week Intensive Residential Retreat at SRSG offering experiential and practical training into the study and practice of yoga meditation\, within the spiritually energised environment of Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama. \n21-week Guided Self-study and Personal Practice that is supported by live online weekend classes with internationally acclaimed faculty\, thus allowing opportunity for receiving continued guidance from the teachers and providing space and time for self-observation\, self-examination\, and self-purification. \n2. Beginning with Level One – 200 Hours \nThe renewed program begins with the first-ever 4-week Level One\, 200 Hours retreat At SRSG from 14 March to 10 April 2027. The program will be offered twice each year—in March and November. \n3. Ten Study Areas \nIn line with the teachings of Gurudeva Swami Rama and Swami Veda Bharati\, and rooted in the traditional texts of yoga\, the program continues to offer the same ten integrated study areas\, as in the previous format of HYT-TTP: \n\nYoga Foundation Studies\nYoga Sadhana\nHatha Yoga\nBreathing and Pranayama\nRelaxation and Meditation\nAnatomy and Physiology\nHolistic Health and Ayurveda\nYoga Psychology\nYoga Philosophy\nTeaching Methodology\n\n4. An international faculty rooted in the Tradition \nThe program brings together an internationally recognised faculty of teachers\, who have been trained within the Himalayan Yoga Tradition under the guidance and inspiration of Gurudeva Swami Rama\, Swami Veda Bharati\, and Swami Ritavan Bharati. \nRegistrations for the March 2027 program will begin on 20 October 2026. \nFor further information about the program\, please write to Namita Sinha at ahymsinttp@gmail.com \nWith a deep commitment to preserving and carrying forward the teachings of the Himalayan Yoga Tradition\, as per the wishes of our beloved master Swami Veda Bharati\, we pray to continue to receive the guidance of the Himalayan Sages on this renewed path\, \nIn loving service of the Sages of the Himalayas\, \nNamita Sinha
