DESCRIPTION:  \n Vijñāna Bhairava teaching\nat Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama\, Rishikesh\, India\nWhat do you want to do with fickle unstable forms of wealth?\nWhy not pursue the stable transcendental treasures? \n– Vijñāna Bhairava\nThe text:\nThe Vijñāna Bhairava is a fundamental Tantra of Kashmir Śaivism which is the main authority when it comes to spiritual practice and mystical experience in the Tantra tradition. \nIt contains 112 methods (dhāraṇā) of meditation or spontaneous experiences of the Divine Consciousness. It goes beyond the ritualistic practices of many paths and replaces them with a purely spiritual attitude. \nIt speaks of many ways that spontaneous transcendence occurs in those who are receptive\, purified and ready. \nThe program:\nOne or two sessions of text teaching of about 1½ hours daily\, combined with meditation sessions\, putting the text studied into practice (no guided meditation). \nAt least 3 hours meditation daily. \nRecitation and listening to Stotras and Ślokas of the tradition. \nThe teacher:\nDr. Bettina Sharada Bäumer is a direct disciple of the last Master of Kashmir Śaivism\, Swami Lakshman Joo (1907-1991). She lives in Varanasi since 1967\, is an accredited as Professor at the Universities of Vienna and Salzburg\, Austria\, in Religious Studies. She has taught at these and several other universities in Europe\, and for the last 28 years she gives Retreat-Seminars on Indian spirituality\, mainly Kashmir Shaivism. \nShe has authored and edited 25 books in Sanskrit\, English and German\, and about 60 research articles\, mainly in the fields of Āgama/ Tantra and Kashmir Śaivism\, Upanishads\, Indian aesthetics\, temple architecture and religious traditions of Orissa\, and interreligious dialogue. \nThe above description does no justice to Dr. Bettina Bauemer. There is even a Felicitation Volume in her honour by eminent international scholars. \nShe has her own teaching and research centre in the holy city of Varanasi\, and a quiet cottage in the mountains above Rishikesh where she spends many months in solitude. \nRegular Practice:\nLearning about the 112 methods taught in Vijñāna Bhairava would not in any way mean changing your regular practice in the tradition of our Gurudeva Swami Rama. \nDaily practice of usual hatha in our tradition and daily silent meditation of one hour with svb will also continue. \nOfferings: \nAs we are having eminent high level scholar and sadhika as our guest\, in addition to covering the costs of SRSG hospitality\, to keep an offerings envelope ready to correspond with the level of her eminence. \nRequirements:\nExperience in meditation and yoga. Some knowledge of Sanskrit will be helpful. but it is not an essential requirement.
