DESCRIPTION:In loving remembrance of our beloved founder Mahamandaleshwar Sri Swami Veda Bharati (1933- July 14\, 2015)\, we will gather at Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama Ashram in Rishikesh to honor his luminous life and timeless teachings. \nSwami Veda Bharati ji was a rare Sanskrit scholar and a profound master of meditation\, who dedicated his life to spreading the wisdom of the Himalayan Tradition as taught by Gurudeva HH Swami Rama of the Himalayas across the world. His voice carried the essence of yoga and meditation into diverse cultures\, languages\, and faiths\, reminding us that meditation is the common ground of all religions. \nBorn into a Sanskrit-speaking family and raised in the centuries-old Vedic tradition\, Swami Veda began teaching the Yoga Sutras at the age of nine and the Vedas at eleven. His journey led him to guide meditation groups worldwide\, record thousands of hours of teachings\, and author authoritative commentaries on Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras\, along with several other books. He emphasized that yoga is samadhi\, and through his life’s work\, he revealed the universality of yoga as a science beyond boundaries of time\, geography\, and sectarianism. \nAs we commemorate the most auspicious occasion of his 11th Mahasamadhi day\, we invite you to join us in a warm gathering of remembrance and gratitude. Together\, let us celebrate his legacy\, reflect on his teachings\, and renew our commitment to the path of meditation and selfless service. May his light continue to guide us toward inner stillness and universal harmony.

They remember this day and celebrate it by becoming aware the purpose of life is to attain enlightenment; the state of mind\, internal state\, that makes one free from all pains and miseries.” – Swami Rama \nOn the sacred occasion of the Guru Purnima\, a 9-day celebration is held annually at the Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama (SRSG) Ashram in Rishikesh. This includes akhanda-patha (24-hour non-stop recitation) of the Guru-Gita\, the Song to the Guru\, preceding the Guru Purnima Day. The akhanda-patha of the Guru-Gita is offered both at the SRSG and the Sadhana Mandir Ashram by 11 Pandits each.  This special celebration is a reminder for us to pay our homage to the Guru Lineage that has bestowed upon us the great blessings of mantra\, meditation\, initiation and the teachings of the Himalayan Yoga Tradition. This way we also recommit ourselves to our practices. \nThis year\, the Guru Purnima is celebrated on 29 July 2026. We are pleased to announce that the Gurukulam program is now accepting applications for the session of 2026-27. This sacred one-year spiritual journey will commence on 29 July 2025\, the auspicious day of Guru Purnima (Ashadha Shukla Purnima\, the Full Moon Day dedicated to the Guru Force). Seekers of the ancient Himalayan wisdom from all over the world are welcome to apply for this program. \nSwami Rama Dhyana Gurukulam (SRDG) offers study of traditional ancient teachings of the Himalayan Tradition. In 2003\, Mahamandaleshwar Shri Swami Veda Bharati envisioned a long-term program that would impart the purest form of these teachings to the next generation of seekers\, and thus\, the Gurukulam was born. \nThe ‘One-Year Residential Program in the Himalayan Yoga Meditation Tradition’ will harmoniously hold an integrated study and practice of all the paths of yoga\, including bhakti\, jnana\, karma\, and raja yoga. The students will be taught the philosophy\, science\, and practices of hatha yoga\, breathing awareness and pranayamas\, subtle body relaxations\, and meditation. There will be an emphasis on learning\, understanding\, and appreciating meditation as a unifying principle in all the major religions of the world. Ancient scriptures including selected Prakarana Granthas\, selected sections of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita\, the Samkhya darshana\, and the Yoga-sutras of Patanjali will be taught. All students will also be taught Sanskrit and Vedic Chantings. \nTo be a part of this journey\, seekers must commit to a year-long residential stay at the Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama (SRSG) ashram in Rishikesh\, India. DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to share with you an invitation to an 84-days Intensive Sadhana Retreat within the Himalayan Tradition at Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama\, Rishikesh. With heartfelt and eternal gratitude towards Gurudeva Swami Rama and Swami Veda Bharati for having shown us the path of the Himalayan Masters\, this retreat will offer an intensive and in-depth immersion into the practices of yoga meditation as taught within the unbroken lineage of the Himalayan Sages. The program will begin on the sacred day of the Guru Purnima (29 July 2026). \nThis program offers a unique opportunity for those practitioners who have been learning yoga meditation for some time and are now seeking to deepen their sadhana (spiritual practices) at the ashram. Therefore\, those students within the Himalayan Tradition who may not be able to commit to our longer programs like the one-year Swami Rama Dhyana Gurukulam\, but would like to immerse themselves in the ashram’s silent and meditative environment for a longer duration\, may join this program. \nOver the course of 84 days\, one will have the chance to build a strong foundation for a lasting spiritual transformation\, to develop a personal philosophy of life\, and to renew your sankalpa—spiritual resolve. This program encompasses the teachings and practices of – \n\n\n\nHatha-Yoga – Philosophy\, Science and Practice of Hatha Yoga\, Pranayama\, and Systematic Relaxation.\nYoga-sutras – Selected sections from the Yoga-sutras focusing on ‘making the mind a pleasant field’.\nBhakti – Experience the joy of devotion through daily Havana (fire offerings)\, chantings\, kirtan\, personal japa\, selfless meditation\, and dedicated hours of seva (selfless service).\nTantra and Mantra science – Worshipping the Divine Mother through the recitation of Shri Lalita Sahasranama. Deepening our understanding of Mantra science and practice of one’s own personal initiation mantra through Purash-charana.\nAdvaita Vedanta – We will study the foundational and classical text—Tattva-bodha—by Adi Sankaracharya that expounds the core concepts of Vedanta\, thus preparing the seeker for advanced studies of the Bhagavad-gita\, Upanishads and Brahma-sutras.\n\n\n\nThe art of spiritual learning through the three steps of sravana (listening)\, manana (reflection/contemplation/clearing of doubts) and nididhyasana (meditation on the truth/integration/experience) will be adopted in all classes.
