Swami Rama Dhyana Gurukulam

One-Year Residential Program in the Himalayan Yoga Meditation Tradition - Admissions Open for 2022-23 Session

Swami Rama Dhyana Gurukulam (SRDG) offers study of traditional ancient teachings of the Himalayan tradition that have perpetuated since the Vedic times. The Gurukulam was established in 2003 by Mahamandaleshwar Swami Veda Bharati with the vision of passing on the ancient teachings of the Himalayan Masters in their purest form to the next generation of aspirants.

The Gurukulam, literally, the Guru’s Family envisages personal spiritual experience to be the foundation of all education in every area of learning. As such the program has been developed to train and mentor aspirants so that these teachings would permeate the whole of their lives.

Our goal is to prepare:

  • citizens who hold a personal spiritual philosophy of life based on their own practical learnings and meditative experiences, and will translate it into all areas of their life in the world,
  • teachers and guides who will give their lives to creating the next generation of such citizens,
  • future leaders for SRSG and AHYMSIN.

The one-year residential intensive program in the Himalayan Yoga Meditation Tradition will allow a student to systematically learn the spiritual sciences within a practical framework so that these teachings may be useful for them towards self-transformation. The emphasis is on creating a foundation of spiritual values upon which they may build their future in the world.

The ‘One-Year Residential Program in the Himalayan Yoga Meditation Tradition’ will harmoniously hold an integrated study and practice of all the paths of yoga, including bhakti, jnana, karma, and raja yoga. The students will be taught the philosophy, science, and practices of hatha yoga, breathing awareness and pranayamas, subtle body relaxations, and meditation. Ancient scriptures including selected Prakarana Granthas, selected sections of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, the Samkhya darshana, and the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali will be taught. All students will also be taught Sanskrit and Vedic Chantings.

The students must commit to a year-long stay at the Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama ashram in Rishikesh, India. The daily schedule of classes, practices, and karma yoga will run from 5 am to 10 pm every day, and all the students will be expected to participate fully in the daily schedule.

Applications are now open for the initial one-year long Gurukulam program that begins on the Vijayadashami (Ashwina Shukla Dashami/Dusshera) 2022, which would be on the October 5th.

Medium of Instruction: English and Hindi
Cost/Fees: A loving and committed heart. Donations/Dakshinas towards one’s stay are welcome.
Eligibility: All seekers, irrespective of religion, gender, caste, etc. who can commit to a year-long stay at the Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama ashram in Rishikesh, India.
