Reflections on a Sacred Thread

byPandit Tejomaya/Tim Bruns

Pandit Hari Shankar Dabral conducted a sacred thread ceremony for Tim Bruns, who is now known as Pandit Tejomaya, in the Himalayan Yoga Tradition, on Gabriola Island, British Columbia, Canada, 24th July 2012.

It is always sunny and dry in the summer here on Gabriola Island in British Columbia, Canada. So, it was a surprise to wake up to rain on the July morning that Pandit Dabral was to offer me the Sacred Thread and bring me into the long line of Pandits in the Himalayan Yoga Tradition. As Panditji created a beautiful havan kunda on the rocky shore, his faith was not dampened by the weather, and we enjoyed the cleansing freshness of a rain just past by the time the ceremony commenced.

I will not forget this day. The ceremony was beautiful, formal, respectful, joyful. All who attended were affected deeply, but they may not have experienced what I experienced. I was humbled by the strong presence of this lineage to which we belong. In the presence of these countless mind-beings who graced the shore that morning, I had absolute fearless clarity regarding my commitment, regarding my path, regarding the goal of life. As my sadhana now evolves into its next phase, I have complete confidence in our transcendental support network, complete trust in the power of this Sacred Thread.

Thank you all for your love and your teachings. I remain yours in service,

Pandit Tejomaya
Tim Bruns
