An Intangible Beauty

The Path of Silence in the Yoga Tradition of the Himalayas

As Swami Veda announced the five year vow to be taken on March 2013, an idea came to our mind. Couldn't this event be an occasion to both honour his transition and produce something - maybe a book, maybe a documentary - about the path of silence?

Speaking about silence might have resembled a complete paradox, but with some good in it. We are ordinarily surrounded by noise and chaos, so it is a liberating discovery to realize the existence of some spiritual means through which one can surf the waves of mental confusion.

We have dedicated almost two years to gather the interviews to the travelling teachers of the Himalayan Tradition. Swami Ritavan, Swami Nityamuktananda, Pandit Dabral and Stoma Parker were so kind in sharing the preciousness of their direct experience on the path of silence. Then the icing on the cake was the interview that Swami Veda himself gave us in Rishikesh in which he explains the foundations of silence and the reasons for taking his vow. Additional footage covers the silence retreat that we usually organize every August in Italy. In this way, the original idea took the shape of a documentary with an attached book in which the complete transcripts of the video-interviews are available.

And after the whole editing process of both the documentary and the book, here we are at the end, with this gift of love and knowledge that was given to us. We hope that “An Intangible Beauty – The Path of Silence in the Yoga Tradition of the Himalayas” can be of some help and inspiration to our friends around the world.

“An Intangible Beauty – The Path of Silence in the Yoga Tradition of the Himalayas” comes in a package that contains a book plus 2 DVDs. The first DVD is a 53 minute long documentary about the going into silence of Swami Veda Bharati featuring Swami Ritavan Bharati, Swami Nityamuktananda Saraswati, Pandit H.S. Dabral, Stoma Parker and Swami Veda himself. In the second DVD all the integral interviews on which the documentary was based on are stored. The book contains the complete transcripts of the interviews. Both the two DVDs and the book are available in the original English.
