Chronology of Events

On this auspicious day of 14th July 2015, our beloved Swami Veda Bharati passed from his body at 3 am (India time).

Special prayers of Gayatri  and/or Akhanda-mandala-karam...can now be offered on his behalf for this saintly intention while keeping a deepak/candle-flame lit.

Swamiji’s body is placed in the meditation hall at Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama. Akhanda Bhagavad Gita Paath (Non-stop reciting of the Bhagavad Gita) takes place in the Meditation Hall. This is part of a 14 day ritual called Shraad (paying respect).

Sangha gatherings to honor Swamiji take place around the globe, and some are still scheduled to take place in the future.

Funeral rites take place on 17th July. Swami Veda’s body is prepared and there is a service at Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama. His body was then taken to Haridwar where the jal samadhi (sinking the body to the bottom of the Holy Ganges River) took place according to the sannyasi rites at Neel Dhara Ghat.
Shraad continues.

Sadhana Mishra, General Secretary, writes “As per Swamiji's WILL, Swami Ritavan Bharati has been appointed to the position of Spiritual Head, i.e. Ashrama Pramukha, of Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama (SRSG). Dr. Mohan Swami, the beloved disciple of Gurudeva Swami Rama, has been appointed as President of Dhyana Mandiram Trust.”

Swami Ritavan and Dr. Mohan Swami write, “Swamiji's fragrance will continue to linger in SRSG. His laughter will continue to be heard. His love will continue to permeate each soul who passes through ‎his eye… We request and invite continued dedication and participation of all AHYMSIN family members in taking forward Swami Veda's Mission.”

Programmes taking place to honor Swami Veda:

24th July 2015 to 29th July 2015 (6days) - 125000 repetitions of Gayatri Mantra by 12 Pandits.

Purnahuti will be on 29th July with fire offerings.  This will take place at SRSG.

July 29th 2015 will be Shradhanjali (Memorial Service) and a Shodashi Bhandara with feeding of around 500 Sadhus (including the Mahamandleswara, Dandi Swamis, Mahants and Swamis and Sadhus). The feast is indicative that the mourning period is now over.

Guru-Purnima celebration will be on the 31st July 2015 (one day programme only) in Sadhana Mandir and Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama. The Bhandara will be in Sadhana Mandir .

If you would like to come to SRSG for this, please use this link to write about accommodations: http://ahymsin.org/main/accommodations-inquiry.html

Full Moon Meditation will take place on 31st July 2015.  Swamiji had expressed earlier that he would like Full Moon Meditations to continue after his passing.

In future days, may you be blessed with regular practice.
