In Homage to Swami Vedaby Swami Jaidev BharatiMany decades ago, before he retired from the University of Minnesota, Professor Pundit Usharbudh Arya was selected Teacher of the Year by the students. His meditation temple in Minneapolis was now becoming well known. Over the ensuing years, many various laudatory recognitions were deservedly reaped upon this world lecturer and traveler. As the father of a son and daughters, he brought an even greater latitude of love and affection to his eventual initiation into the Himalayan Bharati Order of swamis. From thence he blossomed. As chaplain of Jolly Grant Hospital in northern India that many said could not be built, he brought his compassion and encouragement to the staff and patients. He devised a plot of land near Rishikesh on the Ganges that became a yoga training and renewal camp for hundreds of students and wayfarers. A prolific author and lover of ancient texts and languages, his lectures and personal demeanor, over the years, inspired more than a few to follow in similar aspirations. We will appreciate and remember, no doubt, the extent of his legacy and unselfish devotion to enhancing the fruitful lives of his students and friends whose hearts that he touched. Pain free, at last, few men of my acquaintance have fulfilled their dreams as auspiciously as Swami Veda.
