March 2016 Newsletter

Guru PadukaA special time for you to come to Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama ~ Guru Purnima Retreat, 10th - 19th July 2016:

  • akhanda-patha (24 hour non-stop recitation) of Guru-Gita, the Song to the Guru
  • 14th July, 1st Anniversary of Swami Veda Bharati's Mahasamadhi
  • 19th July, Guru Purnima and Full Moon Meditation

“This day, the day of Guru Purnima, is considered to be the holiest day for the students of life; for those that have been treading the path of light; for those aspiring to attain enlightenment in this lifetime. They remember this day and celebrate it by becoming aware the purpose of life is to attain enlightenment; the state of mind, internal state, that makes one free from all pains and miseries.” - Swami Rama. Program for Initiates 10th to 17th April 2016 at Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama (SRSG). "You have been a guest at the Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama, perhaps once, perhaps many times, and have had basic lessons in sitting and breathing etc. I hope you have been able to keep up the practice for your physical health, peace of mind and a settled heart. You have also received mantra-diksha. Now the question remains : WHAT after mantra? How to refine it; where to go further? There is always need for (a) refreshing, (b) refining to subtler levels and (c) learning the next steps." - Swami Veda Bharati Contact: ahymsin@ahymsin.org

The 2016 Sangha Gathering took place at SRSG 21st – 26th February 2016, and we are happy to be able to share some photos and words from that event with you in this newsletter.

Courtesy of Sunil Trikha: videos of a lecture given by Swami Veda Bharati titled “Self Governance Is the Best Governance" which he delivered in Ludhiana, India, on 27th November 2006.  It is on YouTube in 3 parts of about 20 minutes each. Please click on title(s) to watch.

“I'm writing to thank you for the simple yet deeply impactful advice you shared last week regarding the importance of intention put into cooking food and diaphragmatic breathing.  I have become more aware of both over the last one week and it has made an immediate and significant difference to my mood, my energy level and my sleep. I am committed to keep going with both throughout pregnancy and thereafter as well.” Shweta Kulkarni-Lobo wrote to Dr. Shirin Venkat, centre leader in Pune, India, who had guided her into proper diaphragmatic breathing and also explained how the food should be cooked. Dr. Shirin said, “I told her the story of Swami Rama how he refused to eat a particular vegetable although it was his favourite simply because he knew it was cooked in anger. The dear lady who cooked it for him was astonished for indeed she had been angry with her children while she prepared that vegetable only!”
