Yoga and Martial Arts October 2018

by Pandit Priyadarshan

Swami Tat Sat Bharati will teach a “Yoga and Martial Arts” workshop at Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama (SRSG) in Rishikesh, India, from the 22nd to 27th October 2018.

“What is the principle of karate and kung fu? Attention, just attention. You don’t divert your mind elsewhere, just one-pointed mind.”
– Swami Rama

“The yogis invented all the martial arts of India, and still continue them. There was no greater martial arts expert than Swami Rama of the Himalayas.”
– Swami Veda Bharati

The emphasis of this seminar will be on the training of mindfulness and on mind-body coordination. Swami Tat Sat’s teachings will be taken from the Buddhist text Maha-sattipatthana Sutta, which elaborates on the principles from which the spiritual martial arts take their bases.  The practice of martial arts will be approached as a bridge between the different Indian philosophical systems.

Please note that the morning sessions will be movement awareness practicums and the afternoon sessions will be follow the lecture format.

Swami Tat Sat has practiced yoga since 1980 and is a student of HH Swami Rama of the Himalayas and Swami Veda Bharati. He is a 7th Dan in Aikido and has practiced Aikido since 1973. He is a disciple of Master Tada Hiroshi, 9th Dan Aikido, and other high-ranking Japanese Aikido masters.

He is also an initiator and a member of the AHYMSIN Adhyatma Samiti, or Spiritual Committee. He lives in the Berlin, Germany area and is the founder and director of Institut für Yoga & Aikido where yoga is taught in the tradition of Swami Rama. Swami Tat Sat’s pre-sanyasi name was Ingo Beardi.
