Bhagavad Gita 18.66by David Rodrigo
Give up your identification with your body and the world and rest in Me only. Adore Me only through constant thought and intense love. Dedicate your entire life to Me alone. This surrender is a mental modification (vṛtti) devoid of all thoughts of the non-Self, unbroken like a line of pouring oil. This vṛtti is preceded by the deliberation, ‘This itself is the highest Reality’, as Madhusudana Sarasvati states in his commentary (Advaita Ashrama, 2000, pg 987).
Swami Rama: “The 66th verse contains the teaching of the Bhagavad Gita in a nutshell: renounce all actions and come to the Lord alone…” (Perennial Psychology of the Bhagavad Gita, pg. 458) “[…] an aspirant should direct all his energy –external and internal, gross and subtle—toward transforming himself so that he gives up his identification with the body and the external world and realizes his identity as the eternal and unchanging Consciousness. Self-transformation is […] the single goal of life.
