Toronto News

December 2011

by Shanta Sawh

On 10th December, 2011, I attended an Interfaith Full Moon Meditation held at the Vedic Cultural Center in Toronto, Canada. As usual, Chander Khanna, one of the main organizers of this event, led us into meditation and after an hour or so we closed by chanting prayers from the various faiths. I lead the prayers for HYMSO - the “Himalayan Yoga & Meditation Society of Ontario”. Afterwards, I accepted a white rose on Swami Veda Bharati's behalf from HYMSO. Although he was not here to receive it, its fragrance will waft over the seas with the love with which it was presented.

The energy from the entire session was very powerful.  It was inspiring and this was reflected in the faces of everyone present.

There were many religious representatives from the faiths: Amar Erry from the Arya Samaj group, Father Gallagher, senior representatives from the Buddhist and Zoroastrian communities, and many more whom I cannot remember.  I was pleasantly surprised when they all showered Swami Veda with praise for all the work he is doing around the world in promoting and perpetuating the word 'peace' and unity in all religions globally.  They were grateful that through SVB they are in touch with the Himalayan Tradition and the entire lineage that he represents.  I was very happy to see SVB being acknowledged and recognized for his good works by the peoples of Toronto.

We all are aware that Swami Veda pays a huge price health-wise for all this work. We pray for his continued good health.  May the Guruji’s blessings be with him so he may continue with his messages of peace and inter-faith activities.
