Gurukulam Admissions Open for 2013/2014by David RodrigoSwami Rama Dhyana Gurukulam A unique learning experience on the divine nature in all Long term residential and intensive study program in the Yoga Meditation Tradition of the Himalayan Masters as taught by Swami Rama of the Himalayas Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama Spiritual Guide Swami Rama Dhyana Gurukulam is a three-five year intensive and residential program for the study and practice of the most ancient traditions of yoga as established by the rishis or seers of the true divine Self and passed on by the Himalayan masters and in contemporary and scientific context, as taught by Swami Rama of the Himalayas. Meditation ‘dhyana’ is the core of yoga. Thus we center all our teaching of physical yoga and philosophy around the practice of meditation as the path of pure spiritual experience with the aim of samadhi or Self-realization. Our range covers the vast variety of meditation paths as they fit within the core teaching of breath awareness, mantra and related fundamental methods. The Swami Rama Dhyana Gurukulam’s curriculum consists of both theoretical and practical classes. It includes mainly hatha yoga; meditation; pranayama and other yogic practices; contemplation on Ancient Indian philosophies, i.e. Sankhya-Yoga, Vedanta, Tantra, etc., both from the original scriptures and from Swami Rama and Swami Veda’s teaching, which inspires the path of meditation and samadhi; yoga anatomy; yoga psychology; Sanskrit prayers and grammar, etc.; along with karma yoga or selfless service to the ashram. Spiritual preceptors are available to guide the students individually and suggest to them appropriate spiritual practices. The goal of the Gurukulam is to raise the awareness of the true divine nature in all, the unlimited Self, the pure formless consciousness, the life power, the source of bliss, in all sincere spiritual seekers and graduate better human beings as well as teachers in the Tradition of Yoga Meditation of the Himalayan Masters for the love, harmony, mutual cooperation, happiness, freedom and benefit of all beings. Each Gurukulam year runs from 1st October to Mid-May next year. Daily schedule is from 5:00 am to 9:00 pm with classes six days a week. Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama, ‘village of spiritual seekers,’ is a beautiful and peaceful ashram founded in 2002 by Swami Veda Bharati, a great scholar and meditation master and main disciple of H.H. Swami Rama. The ashram is situated in the foothills of the Himalayas, in the holy small city of Rishikesh, at a walking distance to the river Ganga. It is a key center of an international community of meditators guided by Swami Veda. Any sincere spiritual seeker willing to deepen his/her state of consciousness, self-control of mind and senses and meditation practice in our long term intensive study program is most welcome to apply to Swami Rama Dhyana Gurukulam.
