Guru Purnima 22nd July – Rishikesh

by HYMC Noida Sangha

“The day of Guru Purnima is considered the holiest day for the students of life for those that have been treading the path of light, for those aspiring to attain enlightenment in this life time. They remember this day and celebrate it by becoming aware of the purpose of life. Which is to attain enlightenment; the state of mind, internal state that makes one free from all pains and miseries.” – Swami Rama

In the words of our most revered Spiritual Guide, “When you remember the guru principle in any form, remember also that it is your own soul inviting you to enter meditation so that someday the Inner Guru may visit you.” - Swami Veda

It was indeed a rare good fortune that Swami Veda decided to celebrate this Guru Purnima amidst His disciples at Rishikesh ashram this year.

Not wanting to miss this rare opportunity, a group of 14 devotees from Noida centre went to celebrate this most auspicious day in the presence of the Divine Guru.

The group led by the Noida centre head, Mrs Jaya Bhagat, reached the ashram on 20th July. It was indeed an exhilarating feeling to be present there as the entire ashram was abuzz with excitement with Swamiji’s presence. The feeling was unique in every heart and the wait to be in His physical presence was never ending. Finally it was time for meditation with param shraddheya gurudev and the entire Noida group went to attend the session with their beloved teacher and spiritual guide.  It was a blissful experience to be with the Divine master on this most auspicious day. Everyone felt it was really worth the wait.

The next morning, everyone attended the pooja, havan and the akhanda Guru Geeta being chanted in the meditation hall. Even to witness such a soul elevating prayer of guru is a Prasad in itself. Guru Kripa alone can confer such bliss on His disciples. After partaking of the Prasad, everyone went back to their rooms to prepare for the oncoming Guru Purnima celebrations on the next day.

Guru Kripa is boundless on Noida centre. Three people received Guru Mantra in the evening with the help of Swami Prashant thus making a total of approximately thirty initiates receiving initiation from the guru lineage.

In the evening on Guru Purnima day, Noida Centre presented petals of devotional offering of Bhajans sung by Mrs. Jaya Bhagat; at the Lotus Feet of Gurudev, she sang a few masterpieces of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore’s own compositions which are very close to Swamiji’s heart. The translations of Rabindra Sangeet were done by Shashank Ranjan.

Swami Veda was so enthralled with the presentation by Noida Centre that he sat through the entire programme lasting almost 90 minutes. It was indeed an opportunity of many lifetimes for Noida Centre to get this boon from the Guru. Swamiji blessed the group profusely which enthralled everyone. Guru Kripa Hi Kevalam … Guru Kripa Hi Kevalam… Guru Kripa Hi Kevalam.
