They have both continued to provide the much needed guidance by ensuring that we strive to achieve the Aims and Objectives of the Society. They help to conduct Satsang sessions and Hatha Yoga sessions besides facilitating at our Annual Retreat.
Allow me to recall what we have achieved for the Society, for Children and young people, for our Membership and for the General Public.
a) For the Society
We are now officially registered as Himalayan Yoga Science Society Sabah, Registration No.0687-12 –SBH. The amendments to the Constitution as proposed at our last AGM have been approved by the Registrar of Societies. Thanks are due to Mr. S. Vanugopal for his advice regarding the amendments. Please refer to the copy of our Constitution showing the approved amendments and kindly note that elections for the main committee will be held once in every two years.
b) For Children and young people
HYSS Sabah has continued to conduct Hatha Yoga classes on Saturday evenings at the Sri Pasupathinath Alayam, as a service by HYSSS to teach children to enjoy yoga. During the one and a half hour session with the guidance of the instructor Datin Judy Rajah, the children were given activities which included stretches, yoga games. asanas, relaxation and sitting in Stillness.
We also conducted a one day retreat for children on Nov. 17th 2013. Twenty five children participated in the retreat. Some parents helped in organizing this event. The retreat was conducted by Datuk Rajah and Datin Judy. It was a big success and the parents and children have requested for more of such activities.
We are pleased to announce that this program will be continued this year and the children yoga classes have continued. We would like to request volunteers and are looking forward to some of you stepping forward to help teach yoga in this program.
c) For our Membership
Satsang sessions were conducted on Saturday afternoons followed by meditation. Related information on the topics for satsang were also sent to members and interested groups prior to the session. Although attendance has not been consistent, we hope that this year, with the help of all the members to popularize this activity.
Datuk Rajah conducted free Hatha Yoga classes after the satsang sessions.
During the year, 5 people gained initiation into the Tradition. They were given mantra initiation by our certified Initiator.
d) For the General Public and Members
We held a very successful retreat at the Kinabalu Pine Resort on 13th to 15th Dec 2013 under the guidance of Swami Nitya. 31 people took part in this retreat with the theme 'Yoga and Science'. The Retreats for the children and adults, together with the satsang sessions, hatha yoga classes, and the initiation into the Tradition were all carried out to promote the teaching of our Himalayan Masters.
Hatha Yoga for adults classes have continued to be conducted by Datin Judy at our registered premise in Lido and at the Lily yoga Studio on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. We would like to appeal to members who are interested to help with the teaching.
We will be happy to train members or anyone inclined to the Himalayan Tradition to teach yoga and meditation.
Membership
As of 31 December 2013 we had 37 Life members. Dr Anil Kumar, Dories Gabriel, S Krishnanandha and Ong Lee Fong have recently joined our Society bringing the total number of Life members now at 41.

Acknowledgement
Special mention with a vote of thanks is due to:
- Our Hon Auditor, Ms Tan Beng Fun
- Ms Tan Beng Fun, Ms Catherine Ong, and Mr. Kannan for their generous donation for our retreat
- Mr S. Vanugopal for sponsoring the Welcome Dinner on the eve of our retreat.
- Datin Lily Aw and Lina Tay for allowing us the use of their premises for the Hatha Yoga and Satsang sessions by HYSSS.
- Datuk Dr Mathavan, President of Sri Pasupathinath Temple for allowing us the use of the Temple Hall for today's AGM .
- All others who have assisted in one way or another
Conclusion:
As we do not have any paid staff or operational funding, all our activities have relied upon the voluntary expertise and efforts of our members and of our friends. This was only possible because of your understanding and continued support. It is the volunteers' dedication alone that has got the jobs done.
Finding the necessary time and the balance is a critical challenge and I appeal for members to come forward to do SEVA (service) to make our activities more meaningful. Better still, if you see an issue that warrants action please make contact and discuss how you can take the lead on behalf of HYSSS.
In closing , I thank you and look forward to your continued support in the times ahead.
In service to the Himalayan Tradition,
Leong King Ngoo @ Datin Judy Rajah
President, 2013 - 2014 Himalayan Yoga Science Society Sabah
