Key Events in Thailand 2005-2013
May 2005
- Swami Veda Bharati returned to Thailand for the first time in more than 20 years.
- No big event was organized for him.
- Only one group meditation session with about 12 people.
- Swamiji also visited Thai traditional massage school at Reclining Buddha Temple (Wat Po) where there are plenty of statues of Rishi bending body (Ruesidutton), which are very similar to Yoga Asana.
September 2006
- Swami Veda Bharati was invited by Thai Yoga Institute to give lecture at Srinakarinwirot University. The topic was “Similarity and Difference between Hinduism and Buddhism”. About 100 people attended his lectures over 3 days.
- Peter Fabian also accompanied Swamiji and gave lectures on correct postures for meditation and hatha yoga.
- Swamiji and Peter also gave lectures to small groups at California Wow Xperience and Yoga Element.
May 2007
- A meditation and spiritual lecture session was organized at Evergreen Hotel, where 150 people participated. The topic was “Samadhi in Daily life”.
- Swamiji was accompanied by Swami Ritavan and Peter Fabian.
- California Wow Xperience and Plannet Yoga organized a one-week workshop (lectures & practical lessons by three of them) for their yoga instructors. Thai yoga teachers from Thai Yoga Institute also attended.
January 2011
- After three years of absence, Swamiji returned to Thailand again, accompanied by Swami Ma Radha and Swami Prayag Giri.
- A big lecture was organized for him at Thammasart Association, with close to 500 attendants. The topic was “Meditation: an inner path to external success”.
- Swamiji also paid visit to Most Venerable Shi Kuang Seng, a highly respected Thai Bhiksuni in Mahayana Buddhism, who has built a Giant Shiva and Kuan YinTemples.
- Swamiji honored the Thai Center launched in January with his meditation session and blessings for a small Thai group.
- Series of lectures on the topic “Love, the first step towards the inner unfoldment” were also organized for Swami Ma Radha at the Thai center and Bangkok Yoga studio.
2011 was the transition year for Himalayan Yoga Meditation Tradition in Thailand. A center was established, a big event organized, connections with various yoga studios were formed and initiates started making a lot more serious contributions and selfless services to the tradition.
February 2012
- Swamiji unexpectedly returned to Thailand for the last time before entering a 5-7 years silence.
- He was accompanied by Dr. Stoma Parker and Ashutosh Sharma.
- A divine guidance worked through many channels. With suggestion from Thai yoga friends, we decided to organize a 3-day retreat at Rose Garden Hotel & resort. The event is titled “Feel the love and wisdom of Himalayan Masters”, which attracted about 150 people.
- This event led to 22 new initiates in Thailand (from 4 before this event).
- Dr. Stephen and Ashutosh also gave several lectures on “Hatha Yoga and Emotional Purification” at the Thai center, Reno (Thailand) and Bangkok Yoga studio.
Following these events, the foundation in Thailand has been greatly strengthened. A group of 14 people have visited SRSG in November; 9 of which took TTP level I, and
2 more took initiation.
May/December 2013
- Swami Veda Bharati had entered silence in March, leaving travelling teachers to work on his behalf.
- In May, we had the blessings of Swami Ritavan Bharati and Ashutosh Share in a retreat “Explore the Richness of Inner Life”. There were about 125 participants.
- We had a small TTP students gathering in Hua Hin with the two teachers for 3 days.
- Ashutosh also conducted a small group workshop at Reno (Thailand) and Kevalee International School.
- Stoma Parker returned to Thailand in December and captivated attention of 110 people in a 1-day course on “The Art of Joyful Living”.
- Stoma also addressed about 60 students and members of Bangkok Yoga Studio on “Yoga Sutra of Patañjali”.
- A workshop was organized for him to share his wisdom with Reno (Thailand)’s management and staff in a session “Business as spiritual practice”.
