Not Just for Teachers in Training!by Jennifer ManionThis summer, students in the Himalayan Yoga Tradition-Teacher Training Program will gather on the St. Thomas University campus in St. Paul for one of two two-week retreats from July 20 to August 3. During their stay, they’ll dive deeply into subjects like meditation, Raja Yoga, philosophy, psychology pranayama, anatomy, Yoga nidra, psychology, holistic health, and teaching methodology. But did you know that the summer programs are not just for teachers in training? You don’t need to be pursuing teacher certification to join the Level One or Level Two retreats. All you need is a desire to deepen your practice—although you need to apply to the program as a continuing student before registering for a retreat (visit http://hyt-ttp.com/applynow.php to do just that!) and Level Two participants must have already finished Level One. Everyone is also invited to attend one or both of the week-long Prana Vidya Hatha Yoga retreats (July 20–26 and July 27–August 1, 2014). Registrants will explore the many dimensions of our tradition’s meditative approach to Yoga asanas and subtle-body practices. Those who attend the Prana Vidya II retreat will also experience a three-day guided silence practice. Finally, the entire Twin Cities community and beyond is invited to attend the evening lecture series. Speakers include Dr. Leonard Perlmutter (Ram Lev), Dr. Phil Nuernberger, Charles Crenshaw, and Swami Jaidev Bharati (Dr. Justin O’Brien), as well as HYT-TTP faculty members Chuck Linke, Peter Fabian, Randall Krause, Dr. Stephen (Stoma) Parker, Michael Smith, and Mary Bowman-Cline.
