The Guru Lineage
and a Yoga Documentary on OHM TV
By Daan De Lange and Kries Mannie Singh
Shasha, a professional film producer, followed a few yoga classes with us about two years ago and stopped because of being much too busy with his work. Last year he offered to make a documentary about the yoga classes.
We were very happy and explained to him that the yoga offered in this form is on behalf of our master/lineage, so let us pay your ticket and let us go to India where you can make recordings of Swami JI. He promised us to consider/investigate that and started with the recordings of the classes. He discovered that for a filmmaker/cameraman it is very difficult to get a visa for India. After some discussions, we decided to skip the journey to India.
As this was an unhappy decision for us, we prayed to the lineage for not being able to do more than our utmost. In the meantime, Sasha had enough material for the documentary, without Swami JI.
As a free lance producer for OHM TV, he was well known to this station, but still he took a certain risk by not making an arrangement with them before starting with the recordings. After the intense work of summarizing and editing all the recordings, he went with the documentary to OHM TV.
The director/editor-in-chief watched the film and was very happy. He said to Sasha: “It is a beautiful documentary, well done, but it is not complete yet. I miss their master. Where is he? Without him I cannot accept it!!” Sasha called us and explained what happened. We told him you’re lucky, now you do not need to go to India, because India is coming to you, and so Swami JI blessed this documentary with his finishing touch.
There was another obstacle because Sasha had not made an arrangement with OHM TV before making this film, so this film wasn’t scheduled in OHM TV’s annual program. It could take at least half a year before it could be broadcasted.
Surprisingly, after Swami JI as the finishing touch, OHM decided to broadcast this documentary within a week on 2nd July 2011.
The documentary starts with cleansing the room … as we don’t have a centre on our own property, we always have to rent a room for the yoga classes. One very important demand for a room is that the floor has to be “washable”. So the classes always start with cleansing the room while meditating to mother earth to let all the students be open for the energy flow of the guru lineage. This cleansing is very symbolical for yoga in general.
The yoga classes that inspired the filmmaker Shasha are Raja Yoga classes taught by Kries Mannie Singh in the Netherlands. This is the website http://www.rajayogales.nl/
We invite you to watch the documentary at this link: http://player.omroep.nl/?aflID=12780889. It is primarily in Dutch with some English when Swami JI and Swami Nityamuktananda speak.
