A little known and rarely understood but essential part of yoga is self-cultivation. For our yoga sadhana to reach the highest goal, we must transform our personality into one that is primarily sattvic because this highest states of samadhi are only accessible to a sattvic mind.
Swami Veda Bharati was a master of self-cultivation, and, in his book, Sadhana in Applied Spirituality, he laid out a sadhana for self-cultivation for those of us living in the world. This is advanced practice and it’s challenging. But success at this sadhana will bring rewards both in the world and in our spiritual quest.
In this series of workshops, through talks, introspection, group dialogue, and exercises, we will read and discuss Sadhana in Applied Spirituality with an aim to both understand and practice the prescribed sadhana and integrate it into our lives.
Workshop sessions will occur every other week and you’ll have “homework” (practices) to do in-between sessions. Practitioners at all levels of yoga practice may benefit from this course.
