Study of Scriptures
The ancient texts, and their languages, are taught not merely as works of philosophical theory; they are explained in the light of the (A) spiritual experiences from which they have originated and (B) which they describe in the guise of philosophical traditions. The texts are taught so that they may be understood by the students/disciples being led through those levels of spiritual experience.
The ancient texts are taught in the context of meditation practice. For example, the Vedanta is not taught only as text of doctrine but as the basis of Vedantic meditation, the practice of nididhyasana (the Vedantic system of contemplation).
