Gist of Life

It is a truth-seeking query concerning the significance of life or existence in general. “Why are we born?”, “What is life all about?”, and “What is the purpose of existence?”
To discern the retort Buddha forfeited his realm and got enlightened (path towards moksha). It was the brutal warrior Ashoka unassailable expanding his realm by waging a bitterly destructive war against the state of Kalinga. After witnessing the mass deaths of the war to discern the retort he forfeited his realm and got enlightened (path towards moksha).
The deeper gist of moksha simply means liberation of the Atman soul from the cycle of birth and death eternally. This becomes doable when human beings after establishing absolute control over five senses and mind reached the stage of Nirvikalpa Samadhi. The stage of nothingness. The stage of absolute wisdom.
Cessation of karma in the physically manifested life is not that easy. Surrounded by materialistic riches galore, prompted by a bloated ego, the want for desires and greed for materialistic riches. Most human beings in life desire travelling the spiritual path standing on platform of material riches.
In Bhagavad Gita, Shri Krishna said Mind is a bundle of vasanas (subtle desires). Through vasanas bondage is caused. Destruction of vasanas will bring freedom. The mind will attain quiescence like a gheeless lamp if the vasanas are destroyed. Just as a silk-worm is caught in its own cocoon, so also man is caught in this vast net of samsara (worldly life) by his own sankalpas (thoughts and notions) and vasanas.
Shri Krishna gave lessons to Arjuna about the gist of life, i.e. Moksha that: In reality there is no death for thee. We are immortals and this body is akin to the cloths of our soul. There is a means for crossing this ocean of relative existence and attaining immortality or the supreme bliss.
After the death of body on mother Earth, whatever the residual balance of life, the same becomes the opening balance of life for next manifestation. The new journey of life manifested by an Atman soul.
Swami Veda in his book Kundalini Stilled or Stirred gave us striking lessons that we all are the son of Light and we all are light; the only disparity is different masks we put made of dust (earth). Jesus in Bible said “You are the light of the world. I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Arjuna asked Shri Krishna that if getting Moksha is the final destination of soul then why shouldn’t i go to the woods, take sanyas and meditate throughout to achieve it. In reply Shri Krishna said there are different paths to moksha, including bhakti, dhyana (meditation), and karma. I believe the shortest path is Karma with bhakti or dhyana.
Om Namah Shivaya.
