Dear Yoga Mentor Articles
How do we break the bonds of karma, what is the method?
26 September, 2017 @ 6:49 pm
Mindful awareness, starting from simple awareness of breath, grounds your attention in buddhi which is causally prior to ahamkara, the source of self-identification with samskaras and the “glue” that sticks them to our mindfield.
How can I increase the energy level of the mindfield?
23 August, 2017 @ 6:53 pm
The best way to increase the energy of the mindfield is to practice mindful awareness all the time, not just when you are sitting on your meditation seat. This is awareness which is intentional, near-present focused, non-judgmental, open, and accepting of whatever comes.
How can we know when it is 5 mouthfuls less than enough to fill the stomach?

“Five mouthfuls less” is a figure of speech to get a certain point across, like in hatha yoga, saying to go two steps under your comfortable capacity. Swami Veda also said, “Systematically under eat,” and “Leave the table feeling a little bit hungry.”

What can we do with those members of the local sangha who do not practice seva within the sangha?
21 January, 2017 @ 8:48 pm
Yoga students are already doing seva for their family or in their neighborhoods, or at hospitals or as counselors or in other capacities. Seva, as it pertains to sadhana, does not have to be to a local HYT center. However, when one sees the vastness and comprehensiveness of Swami Rama and Swami Veda’s mission, it seems that seva in the HYT would have immense benefits not only locally, but also worldwide.
I got into yoga to lose weight, but somehow it never left me. Do you have any advice?
27 December, 2016 @ 8:56 pm
There is a popular misconception that yoga will help people lose weight by raising their basal metabolic rate. This does not happen no matter how vigorous one's asana program may be. What it can do is to gradually help a person to change their relationship with their body starting from accepting oneself wherever you may be.
