Could you clarify what internal dialogue means?
27 February, 2019 @ 7:02 pm
Internal dialogue happens automatically in the form of a running commentary that we all make on the experience of our lives. Swamiji simply recommends beginning to participate in that dialogue consciously in order to gradually move our mind in a more sattvic direction.

22 February, 2019 @ 12:07 pm
All around the ashram the noises and sounds went on as usual, but here at Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama (SRSG) it was a silent day: Monday, February 4th, Mauni Amavasya. The ashram is quite full at this moment, with many visiting sadhakas; 2 large groups had just arrived on Saturday and Sunday. So we celebrated the silence with many together.

22 January, 2019 @ 7:14 pm
In meditation we cultivate the skill of watching and samskaras naturally dissolve. When we become the Watcher, then samskaras do not have a home.

GUNAS are the properties or tendencies of a human personality that determine which direction that person chooses in the challenges of life - The Gunas according to our philosophy of Samkhya are recorded as 3 qualities - 1. Sattva, Pure; 2. Rajas, Active; and 3. Tamas, Dark/Confused.
Why is my mantra is becoming slower as I practice instead of becoming faster?
25 October, 2018 @ 10:36 pm
The slowness of the mantra may be attributable to making an effort in its repetition. It likely also has to do with remaining attached to the syllables, which are the gross body of the mantra.
Is a guru able to remove a person’s karma or transmit shakti to awaken the kundalini ?
28 September, 2018 @ 8:53 pm
Both things are true. Progress on the path is a collaboration between the seeker and the guru force. The seeker makes his/her best effort and when they have exhausted their ability, the Guru removes the last obstacle and the flow of shakti through the Guru raises the seeker up, showing them a higher state to which the seeker must find a way to return.

It was more than 30 years ago. I was searching for a spiritual teacher and heard that a great yoga teacher would be teaching in the San Francisco area. His name was Usharbudh Arya. He was going to be teaching “The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali” at a person’s home.
Not Yet There, Not Yet
22 August, 2018 @ 12:19 pm
I was first introduced to Swami Rama when I was on a yoga teacher training course in Nepal in 2016, with a yoga school from Rishikesh. Some of Swami Rama’s books were on the ‘recommended read’ list. The purpose of taking the course was that practicing yoga at gyms with different teachers with varying degrees of experience, knowledge and approach wasn’t very satisfactory, and I wanted to learn it properly. I had no concept of what the course might entail, and the science and philosophy of yoga opened an unexpected and wonderful new window for me, and I knew I wanted to continue learning.
