When meditating I generate too much saliva. How can I solve this problem?

18 December, 2015 @ 11:44 pm

The main instruction is to relax the mouth, lips, tongue etc. In beginning meditation, the mouth is gently closed without any tension in the jaw, tongue or root of the tongue. The teeth gently touch and the tongue rests gently at the roof of the mouth (the soft palate).

Finding a True Teacher

6 December, 2015 @ 12:53 am

One of my University professors used a lot of words I didn’t understand in his lectures, and I constantly had to look them up. I imagined he used those words to show off, and I didn’t like having to go to the dictionary so much. Because of this, I thought he was a bad teacher. But, looking back, I believe I was mistaken in my assessment of him. His job as a professor was to get me to learn, and he did. I learned a lot of words I didn’t previously know; words I still know and use. And he motivated me to use the dictionary.

Teacher Training Retreat, 13th – 26th March 2016

13 November, 2015 @ 4:30 pm

"We teach out of compassion. We teach because the world suffers and our teaching will reduce that suffering. We teach because we have received that compassion and want to share it with others who suffer. The cause of suffering, in the Yoga-sutras, is ignorance. Our teaching reduces the level of that ignorance. The student arrives because s/he is seeking help - our desire to teach arises directly out of our compassion for the student.”

Life Experience and Bliss

6 November, 2015 @ 1:17 am

Every one’s life is extra-ordinary and unique for what we cross as experiences reveal themselves after only some introspection and understanding of the meaning of life itself. It takes time, sometimes a lifespan, to accept what had brought us into such a life so rough, so difficult, so heavy and unable to comprehend why this had happened to us, till the day when suddenly, all becomes clear, logical, rich and we become able to laugh at ourselves about the Divine plan and His project about our growing up. Whatever struggle is a necessity, whatever pain is our release towards liberation. Usually, one experience after another one brings some clarity.

On Guidance

6 November, 2015 @ 1:12 am

Often I have asked myself if I have been guided through my life. Many people have said that we all are. According to their particular religious and cultural background and, most generally, according to their own views, different people believe themselves to be guided in various different ways. Some—directly by God; some— by their ancestors or by a guardian angel; and others think that they can channel the answers to their problems or meditate on their dilemmas. No one can be sure about the way another person is guided. Sometimes, we might even imagine that we have been given answers to our questions by a higher power, while in reality we have created those answers in our own desperate minds. And yet, it is undeniable that sometimes we are guided. I myself have felt this way, on and off, throughout my entire life.

Swami Veda’s Intention for AHYMSIN

27 September, 2015 @ 8:01 pm

Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama (SRSG) should be a centre of learning and sadhana to create a stable mind-field. Through stability within each mind, a spiritual community creates a stable mind-field, like the gentle ripples on a calm lake. Swami Veda himself mentioned that he had prolonged his life to allow further guidance of his students and disciples to take them to this next step: Personal lives become stabilized; mind fields become stabilized, and this becomes Sangha. We must carry it forward with greater zeal. To permeate with love all that we do will assure the continuity of AHYMSIN for many years-to-come, and this mission must be shared with our Youth Leaders.

The So Ham mantra is stuck in my mind and my skin is shimmering or vibrating. Is this normal?

26 September, 2015 @ 11:54 pm

The experiences are normal, should be ignored, not dwelt upon unnecessarily. Otherwise they become distracting and disturb the flow of deep meditation. These sorts of feelings come from the practice of the physical manifestation of the mantra sound - and like any outflow of mind either outer or inner can mis-lead into egoistic ballooning causing further distraction.
