Guided by my Guru, A Pilgrimage to take, Rugged hills and bustling towns, No impression make, In silence I sit wrapped in shawl, To hand out bananas, Our driver taking one, Here a boarder guard, With expression bland as he looks within, Driver not perturbed - both babble in a foreign tongue

Now, for the word OM, read Swami Rama’s commentary on the Māndukya Upanishad, Enlightenment without God. On the Gāyatrī-mantra you may ask for my series of lectures in which each letter, not just each word, is explained. If you are familiar with the basics of the mantra science, you will know that a translation is not the meaning of the mantra. In this mantra the first seven words are known as vyāhṛtis – 'utterances.' According to the Vedic precepts of genesis, the divine Brahman released the emanated the sound principles of the Universe, and these Vedic sounds, as they were uttered in the cosmos, came into being, the cosmos external and the cosmos internal to you.

New Havan Kund at The Meditation Center
24 December, 2009 @ 12:05 pm
On Tuesday, October 20, 2009, Pandit Hari Shankar Dabral made a brief but informative visit to The Meditation Center of Minneapolis. His main mission: to inform the local community about the traditional, ritual customs and etiquette of the sacred fire ceremony. Earlier in the season, September 13, 2009, The Meditation Center consecrated its new Havan Kund (Sacred Fire Pit). Emilio Bettaglio spearheaded the project with the help of several volunteers who assisted in the construction over the summer months. Dozens of people came together to participate in the consecration ceremony led by Emilio Bettaglio and Swami Ritavan Bharati. Overall, it was a great success! There was much talk about doing several more ceremonies in the future.
